“The spirits of our foolish deeds haunt us, with or without repentance.”
Gilbert Parker
Do you believe in spirits? This fashion editorial – Spirits Within by Tim Walker for Vogue Italia February 2018 – certainly evokes an otherworldly or spiritual world. Tim Walker’s signature quirky and surreal style shines through in this mildly dark, yet whimsical shoot. I’m not sure if spirits exist, but I do know that there is a lot that can’t easily be explained. I also know that sometimes the spirits within ourselves can be the scariest ones.
While I haven’t done anything ghastly, I have done or said things that I’ve regretted later. I’m also frequently my biggest critic and think about how I should have done something differently or better. Alas, the “could have game” can be crippling. So I’m trying to be thoughtful at the onset and be mindful of my actions – do they adversely affect anyone or anything? I am also constantly prioritizing my never ending list so I can try to do what’s more important to me first. It is the small actions that can have a big impact. My husband has been encouraging me to try meditation as well to maintain composure and perspective. It may be something I should do more regularly. How do you calm your inner spirit?
Have a lovely week!
Being more thoughtful by way of meditation sounds like a good idea. and I love this editorial. Tim Walker is giving me such Tim Burton vibes with this one.
I do believe in spirits. I feel there are good ones and bad ones. Like you, I also feel there is an inner spirit. One that drives us and is a part of our character. Many just show what’s on the surface. what they want you to see, but it’s what inside and truly you that makes up your character.
