“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.”
I definitely have an appreciation for good actors.
It is a wonderful thing to watch a really good movie, play or television series. Of course a good plot moves a story along. But I also love being drawn into a movie because the protagonist does such a good job of convincing me of her plight and draws an emotional connection for her plight. It makes sense that Meryl Streep said that acting was actually quite easy (at least for her) because she would try to find similarities with the characters that she would play. So does that mean that Meryl has a little bit of the cool authority of her “Devil Wears Prada” character as well as the ambition/quiet leadership of Margaret Thatcher? Perhaps.
In this photoshoot for W Magazine, this year’s most celebrated actors are once again playing different characters for the famous Tim Walker. The images are a bit surreal, exaggerated and a little quirky. I supposed it also shows that actors can always find themselves in a character, no matter how wonderful and wacky! I may not be an actress, but I can appreciate finding similarities with others, no matter how different we may be…and dressing up once in a while, because it can be fun to play a very distinct version of yourself.
Have a lovely week!

Have a great start to your week too dear!
What a cool shoot! Meryl Streep is awesome.
Wow, these are so different. I love the spread. I hardly recognized a couple of these actors.
Cheryl – seriously Tim Walker really transformed some of these actors (Shailene especially!) I loved this shoot because it was so quirky.
I also have an appreciation for good actors as well as good writing. And good actors who are also good writers are a special breed. What a fun shoot!
A good actor or actress has to be able to connect with the character they’re playing to bring them to “life”. If they don’t, it won’t come through on screen.

Ohhh I love this. I love when actors move out of their persona and the photographer is in charge. So cool!
