“The most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence.”
Blake Lively
Are you a confident person? I can be, depending on the subject. This editorial of Zendaya by Mario Testino for Vogue July 2017 had me thinking about confidence. She was able to confidently stride into Disney offices when she was 16 years old and demand that her character be both athletic and intelligent. In addition, she wanted the show to portray a family of color. I love that she knew her values and her own worth and was able to convey that to her company.
I can be confident in my skills and my tastes. For instance, I like to (half) joke with my husband that my style and taste in design are better than his style. While I like to make fun of him in this arena, I really do have a better eye for colors, patterns, and putting designs together. However, I am less confident with my body. I’ve always been a sloucher and sink into myself. I also don’t love taking pictures of myself, but have been getting better at that through the years. After all, confidence is also something I want my kids to cultivate and practice as well. How do you improve your confidence?
Have a lovely week!
Confidence is an area that I struggled with because I grew up pretty much not having any. It’s a long story that I don’t want to get into but low self esteen is an issue that I struggle with until today. It’s not as bad now, my husband has a pillar of strength and helped my recovery but I still struggle to accept a compliment today. Maybe one day I will overcome this for good but for now it’s still baby steps. 🙂
Shireen, you seem like a lovely person inside and out and I do hope you are able to accept well deserved compliments!
Let me tell you! You are wonder woman! You’re super smart! You’re exceptional professionally and personally. You’re Beautiful! I’ve seen your pictures. You have a pretty face, hair and can dress! You’re a great mom & wife! You know how to put the prettiest parties together. I’m not trying to blow your head up, but you are so exceptional at so many things! You’re gifted and truly blessed.
I’m confident! I wasn’t that way as a child, but it hit me when i started graduate school. HaHaHa I use to second guess myself or think i wasn’t good enough. not anymore! LOL things that use to bother me in the past, i laugh at now and can’t believe i let that/them get to me. GOD has a way of showing you things! some people i thought were everything, turned out to have major cracks >.< HaHaha
