“Art is what you can get away with.”
Andy Warhol
Some fashion editorials and campaigns simply scream for your attention. I was overwhelmed with the colors and bold styling for this Sagmeister & Walsh for Aizone campaign. This campaign reminds me of Andy Warhol’s pop art, with aggressive splashes of color. Everything is colorful and assertive here, including the pink horse! This certainly isn’t a traditional fashion or home campaign. Instead it depicts a fun, colorful world and calls to mind a world of psychedelic fantasy. Bold colors and patterns are everywhere from the walls to the ceilings and finally on the models themselves. It makes me realize that anything and everything can be considered a piece of art. We create art from paints, oils, clay, and wood. Then we render them into the forms that appear in our imagination. But we can also reimagine ourselves and be part of a work of art.
It is interesting to think about art and style as many cultures are pushing the boundaries on them. As a result, we will likely see even traditional companies creating edgier campaigns. Aizone is a department store in the Middle East and now I’d love to visit the store! Most of all, I imagine the styling in store must be so fun!
Here are a few favorite pictures from Sagmeister & Walsh for Aizone.
I was just having a conversation the other day with a freind about non-conventional advertising campaigns that push the envelope and this is such a great example.
Usually this would overwhelm me, but I like it! Especially the horse one. So cute!
