While there is life there is happiness. There is much, much before us.
— Leo Tolstoy (War and Peace)
I am a strong believer that you get what you deserve. If you work hard, possess a generous heart, and treat others fairly, you will be rewarded for your efforts. But sometimes life has no regard for who you are or what you have done. It may unleash an unexpected event and this storm (physical or figurative) may cause your entire world to come crashing down.
While my own family’s home suffered only minor damage during the hurricane a few months ago, I know that some people’s homes, livelihoods, and lives still suffer the effects. While I wouldn’t wear a designer gown while visiting with military or emergency response personnel, this editorial reminded me that these storms, big and small, still occur every day for some of us. Your life can change in an instant and people, places, and concepts that you have held dear may be shattered despite the fact that you are a “good” person.
I’m having one of those moments now where a few horrible things have happened recently to good people around me (people far better than me). It is hard to pick myself up again when my heart is in pieces and I’m trying to figure out how to be strong and set a good example. But these are the times to remember the basics – if I have my health, support, and love, I will find a way to go forward.
As my Russian friend states above “there is much, much before us”.
Despite the effects of these storms, I will continue to seek beauty and love. I will appreciate what I have and find a way to bring peace and happiness to others. I will concentrate on what is before me.
Have a lovely week!
I’m sorry to hear life is tough right now for the people you love – your opening quote is so true though and I always try to remember in hard times that this too shall pass xo
Thank you for the sweet comment dear. It may be tough for a while, but I will look forward and this too shall pass!
Gorgeous post doll, I agree with what your saying so much. Terrible things happen, but it’s the rising out of them that is the real test. We still have so much to be thankful for :)) Have a wonderful week xx
love your words..

great editorial by Vogue..thanks for sharing!
So true that it’s during hard times that we most need to see the light and be positive. You have the right attitude and I hope things will pick up for those good people who’ve sadly suffered misfortune.

This weather has been so crazy. We had freezing temps this weekend and now we are supposed to be in the 60’s. I hope you and your loved ones are ok.
I don’t really know what’s going on in the editorial, but I loved reading what you had to say. I hope you are feeling better and that things are looking up.
This is an awesome photo shoot! xoxo
Beautiful post, and so true. I often feel very down and defeated by the horrible things that happen to good people. The world can be such an ugly place, and it’s hard to accept that we can only do the best we can in focusing on the positive.
i loveee love this editorial! especially since my own husband is in the uniformed services.. i love that it can be perceived as so glamorous heheh :)!
I’m so sorry about your family’s home. What a wonderful attitude you have!
Thank you dear and I am definitely trying to keep a good attitude or else I’d just be having a pity party!
I am sorry to hear the recent unfortunate incidents that have hit some of your friends/family. I hope things will get better.
