Would you consider yourself courageous? I saw this beautiful editorial of Amal Clooney by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue May 2018 and her pretty amazing life and her recent quote about courage. We’ll put aside her striking looks and movie star husband, but look at her work. She’s had a diverse law career with a variety of high proflile cases. She started out on the team defending Enron’s lead auditor, but preferred cases with a humanitarian component. Now she is representing individuals like Nadia Murad, who is a member of an ISIS targeted enthoreligious minority. Her transition away from high profile corporate law was definitely a courageous move. She decided to forego the money and fame and work in a field for which she truly felt an emotional interest. Amal drew up her courage and followed a different path.
I suppose I’ve done some courageous things like leaving a good job to pursue a higher education degree. I also ventured into the startup world which was a little scary at first. But I’m trying to find courage now to pull myself out of a rut. At times, I feel overwhelmed and exhausted on multiple levels. It leaves me feeling inadequate and drained. I’m sure a large part of it this has to due to a lack of sleep. But I don’t want this to get worse. I’m going to start working on myself – do more swimming sessions, try out meditation, and get support. It’s never too late to be courageous.

And I think being a part of a startup is totally courageous. Hopefully getting back into swimming will do wonders for your self care!

Amal Clooney certainly has many admirable qualities but all ofher efforts on behalf of humanitarian causes is one the most admirable. I gained even more respect for her after that profile in Vogue. Gosh is she ever so chic as well!
