“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
— Dr. Seuss
Do you believe in the love that is showcased in movies?
I’m always a sap and get sucked into romantic comedies (“Love, Actually” – a cute holiday movie too!) as well as the somewhat epic love stories (“The Notebook” tugged at all those heart strings). But I’m not sure I really believe in concepts like love at first sight or that opposites always makes the best couples or that childhood sweethearts work out 20 years later.
But what I love about love in real life is that it isn’t about grand gestures and dramatic moments. Some of my favorite times with my husband are quiet ones. We had a date night (elusive but awesome) at a hole in the wall burger place a few days ago and then just sat and stared at the turbulent rain outside. It wasn’t a movie moment like the moments portrayed in this sweet editorial. But it was a nice moment with a couple comfortably in love. I love the love displayed in movies, but am perfectly happy with the love I experience in daily life too.
Have a lovely week!
These photos with Lilli Collins are beautiful. I love the black and white photography choice too. Great quote! 🙂 We always watch Love Actually, every year, haha. Wishing you a wonderful week. x/Madison

Beautiful post. I agree it’s not about grand gestures. For me, it’s the little/simple things that I appreciate about the love the hubs and I share. Happy Monday gorgeous.
Date night manifests itself a lot differently. Sometimes it’s just talking and a movie – nothing fancy. Life is moving at a rapid pace so any time we can complete conversations is time well spent.
My husband and I always turn to each and say only in the movies or on tv when we see those grand romantic gestures or people falling in and out of love quickly depicted on film. I’m definitely with you with that real love is better than reel love 🙂
Awww, you have an awesome hubby! That’s the only thing I haven’t achieved in life…True Love. Only heartbreak.

Aww thanks dear, the husband is a keeper. Love is so much a matter of timing and location and you have to meet the right person at the right time! I know Mr. Very Sweet Blog is out there and I hope you find each other soon!
I love Lily – what a gorgeous editorial!
I would like to believe in the love seen in films; but since I have never experienced it, I can’t bring myself to. Yet.
xx
I totally agree! I love romance in novels and movies, but also love the subtler, real-life stuff, too.
Sometimes the quiet moments are the sweetest ones 🙂
What a lovely set of photos – hollywood fiction or real, they are beautiful and represent the kind of love I want to believe in, always.
Eight years later, I’m dating my high school sweetheart again and I couldn’t be happier 🙂
(I’ll have to make him watch Love Actually with me this Christmas)
Lydia, wow – what a cool story! I hope you enjoy a great Christmas with your h.s. sweetheart! “Love actually” is the perfect movie for a cozy Christmas!
