“When you look at the world, the world isn’t just one palette. It’s a beautiful rainbow, and why not have someone to represent that rainbow.”
Joan Smalls
Joan Smalls is ruling the top of the model charts now as the no. 1 model on models.com. This Latina beauty can effortlessly pull off the classic look as well as an edgier style and one can certainly see why she is in so much demand. I love that the top five models on the list now represent a variety of ethnicities and shades (there should be a Middle Eastern or Indian subcontinent beauty there as well though). After all, aren’t there beautiful women of every race and color?
This also got me thinking about blogging “models” as well. I’m lucky to have blogging buddies from many different countries and ethnicities. But I still notice that the top lifestyle and style bloggers are still coming from one particular side of the rainbow (with a few Asians thrown in there as well). The top models now show a good mix of different cultures, but what about the top bloggers?
I’ll still continue to represent my side(s) of the pond, but hope that all the beautiful shades of the rainbow can be represented as well!
Have a lovely week!
She’s stunning, really gorgeous skin too. I think there should be a good mix of races to represent people in these magazines, there isn’t just one race or look, but a rainbow of them & it would be nice to see this. Hope you had a grand weekend doll & your week will be splendid too xx
Joan looks amazing in every photo shoot and runway. I agree there should be more ethnicities in the top blogging and modeling range.
Oh boy, she looks so amazing in those photos. My favourite is the 4th one. What a beauty! Kisses, lovely.
She is phenomenal looking! What a beauty and such a great smile. Like our new Naomi Campbell of this generation!
Interesting choice to take bright colors and photograph them so darkly.
As far as representing all the races in modeling, and in blogging, I think we still have a ways to go.
THANK YOU for bringing this up! It needs to be brought up more. Most top bloggers are Caucasian and have money. There needs to be a better representation across the board of other ethnicities of bloggers. There are so many talents out there. I know it’s hard for me and I’m african american.
Kim, you should be a top blogger! You have such a fun writing voice and cool topics. We still have a way to go in the blogging world so we’ll see!
Gorgeous styles! I agree that models should represent all cultures, along with sizes.
