“Glamour invites us to live in a different world.”
– Virginia Postrel
I always have to check out the Oscars red carpet. Who wore with the gown with the most embellishments? Did anyone wear something really unique? What dresses went from runway to red carpet? My Oscars 2017 best dressed list includes a variety of looks. I was first struck by the simplicity of lighter gowns with simple, but striking details (capes are always nice!) But I also can’t help loving gold and silver gowns that echo the awards shows themselves. I also liked the contrast of black and nude that ranged from heavily embellished to light and simple.

Lighter gowns
I love the striking details with these lighter gowns – Naomie Harris’ train and Karlie Kloss’ cape were stunning. It’s nice to see a gown done with a beautiful detail or in beautiful lace.

If you’re going for the gold, wear the gold right? Chrissy Teigen’s gown actually has hints of silver as are the embellishments on Hailee Steinfeld’s dress. I loved the train and sensuality of both gowns. I always applaud long sleeves on the red carpet and appreciated that Emma Stone and Jessica Biel’s gowns were simple shapes with stunning textures.

Black and Nude
Halle Berry returns to the red carpet and while I also was confused by her hair, I liked the glamour and edginess of her gown. Jannelle Monae’s gown was borderline too much for me, but I love her boldness in wearing these couture creations. Finally, Emma Roberts’ vintage Armani look proved that vintage can be a wonderful thing too.

i loved janelle’s dress, she looked amazing!! xx
I thought Jessica Biel looked great – The dress isn’t particularly my thing, but she wore it so well. I also love the Michelle Williams’ Louis Vuitton. Understated yet so chic!
This was one of the best Oscar red carpets in awhile. Hailee Steinfeld was one of my faves as well and her gown was just gorgeous from all angles. I also loved Isabelle Hupert and Viola Davis! They both looked so elegant and chic!
The dresses were Absolutely fabulous! Do you know the story behind Olivia Culpo’s dress? It was in partnership with Water.org I’ll leave the link below.
