Elegant Stay at Park Hyatt Vienna

Vienna is undoubtedly a beautiful and charming city. I had heard of so many people visiting Vienna and finally brought my family there. I’ll confirm – yes, it is indeed beautiful and charming with great apple strudel as well! We stayed in a few hotels including an elegant stay at Park Hyatt Vienna which is as understated and lovely as the city itself.

The Park Hyatt is housed in a historic building that was built between 1913 and 1915 with renovations occurring a full century later! This UNESCO world heritage site still maintains the 20th century charm with art proudly celebrated throughout the hotel. One of the special touches I loved the most was how the receptionist explained some of the artwork in the lobby when she saw me admiring the two large pieces there. This was a luxurious hotel without a lot of pretense and also a wonderful points redemption! I used a Hyatt Category 1-7 certificate and it was totally worth it.

Room

We were upgraded to a junior suite which ranges from 50 sq m – 60 sq m. The rooms all have mother of pearl inlays and metallix wall hanging resembling Art Noveau brooches. There were many small thoughtful touches including a birthday cake (sacher torte but I’m not sure?), a fresh fruit basket, hydration tables (a first!) and a note from the manager. The layout allowed for a nice living room area and large bathroom with double sinks. The desk was behind the bed and the views from the windows were lovely. Bathroom toiletries included exclusive aka made for the hotel shampoos, soaps, etc. This was a well designed space and we enjoyed the space.

Food

This may be the best breakfast I’ve seen in Europe because of the sheer variety. I was surprised by the salmon caviar which reminded me more of Japan than Austria! Of course there are fresh fruits, including tropical ones like passionfruit. But there is a huge grains, nuts, and dried fruits section. There are also different dishes from roast vegetables to toasts like avocado toast. The final part of the buffet is a large hot food section including several types of frittatas. You can also order a la carte selections from a small menu including dishes like eggs Benedict.

Facilities

The hotel is a blend of timeless styles including early 20th-century imperial grandeur, Art Nouveau touches, and sleek modern luxury, designed by Dutch studio FG Stijl. The main restaurant, the Bank restaurant, has a Coco Chanel inspired Pearl bar that evokes a delicate and fun vibe. The imposing height of the former bank building lends an air of openess and luxury to the hotel. The location is hard to beat in Am Hof Square in the First District. Easily walk to St. Stephen’s Cathedral or the 100+ year old Figlmüller for classic Weiner Schnitzel.
