Have you ever created something in a pottery class?
Many moons ago (it may have been middle school!), I created a small blue and white glazed vase which I thought would be perfect for fresh flowers; in reality it sat by itself in the kitchen for a while. I’m not sure what happened to the vase, but I thought it was fun to work with my hands. I always have an appreciation for someone who can create works of art with their hands, like a sculptor, potter, or ceramist. I’m guessing Tory Burch felt the same way when she first started collecting Palm Beach based Dodie Thayer’s handmade dinnerware (Brooker Astor and Jackie O. were also fans!)
While some may say her cabbage or lettuce ceramic pieces merely mimic the style of other ceramists like the 19th century potter Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, her version is a lighter, yet more refined interpretation. One can’t deny that these are fun and whimsical pieces. So lettuce eat (I couldn’t resist!)
Tory Burch Lettuce Ware Dinner Plate, Set Of 2, Tory Burch, $100
Tory Burch Lettuce Ware Soup Bowl, Set Of 4, Tory Burch, $148
Tory Burch Lettuce Ware Cup & Saucer, Set Of, Tory Burch, $120
Very pretty!
What a fun collection and so perfect for spring and summer.
I took pottery in college….yup that was probably a waste of a credit or two but it was so much fun. I like you can not figure out where all my creations went but the memories are still there even if my monster bunny is long gone.
xoxoxo
These look so cool!
I think I’m just a sucker for all the green which looks esp chic on all white shelving. Maybe it’s time for a kitchen makeover!
