Women are natural multi-taskers.
So it is natural that we would like products in our lives to play multiple roles as well.
That and we never seem to have enough space in our bathroom cabinets right? I’ve resorted to putting little shoe sized storage containers in my bathroom to hold my toiletries; these stacks are always getting ever taller and I hope they don’t tip over into the shower some day!
So it’s nice to discover a product that purports to have multiple functions like Sally Hansen’s Double duty polish – this little bottle serves both as a base coat and top coat for your nails. I randomly bought it at the drug store one day because I was already picking up Sally Hansen nail polish strips (reviewed here). I am pleasantly surprised and this is certainly my go to base coat and occasional top coat now (I’m still testing out other top coat formulas). I also like that this creates a nice shine and can be worn alone as a clear coat of nail polish. My only complaint with the product is that the brush is a bit too wide and this can cause the brush to pick up way too much product.
I’ve used it as a top coat multiple times as seen below (colors are Zoya Wednesday, Nails Inc Trafalagar Square Magnetic nail polish, and Chanel Delight):
A triple duty product in one bottle? Count me in!
Sally Hansen Double Duty
Recommend
– Yes, though be careful with how much you pick up on the brush!
Pros
– Functions not only as promised, but can serve a triple duty as a clear coat for simple nail days
Cons
– The brush design is a little too wide and it can pick up too much formula resulting in unwanted, thick coverage
Price
– $4.99 and up
Sally Hansen Double Duty Base & Top Coat, Ulta, $4.99
This is great! Do you know I have the same complaint about her brushes! HaHa
I love Sally Hansen products – this one sounds fantastic! Have you tried the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes yet? They have built-in base coat, top coat, and, of course, color, so you’re good to go in two coats – love it! 🙂
Love the idea of products that multi-task, it saves so much time and having to buy separate things. This sounds excellent, love the blue hue.
I have been a fan of this product for awhile now, though I admit that I’ve only used it as a base coat. I have the same issue with the brush – too wide!
Love Sally Hansen nail products. Also love cover girls. Hope you are doing well, thanks for checking in on me every now and then. Love your face, xoxo
Bigs hugs darling! Of course – I just want to hear what’s going on and that you’re doing ok. Oh and your makeup list rocked too!
I use a separate base and top coat now but I wouldn’t mind something that pulls double duty. Thanks for the review!

I use this as a base coat only, along with the Sally Hansen Insta Dry top coat. Love it!
I’ve seen it in the store but never bought it. But now I feel like I should totally pick it up. Love the 2-in-1 factor.
I would love things that does 2 different jobs so I would have less bottles to keep. I sometimes just wonder how could a base and top coat work similarly since one is suppose to provide gloss. I would keep this Sally Hansen in mind after I finish my Revlon which also acts both ways. Really true to the saving space portion!
I’d love to try this because I’m in live with the insta-dri from Sally Hansen.

did you find it prolonged the length of your manni at all?
Hmm, I think it performed average as a topcoat and prolonging the life of my manicures. I’ve ordered Seche Vite and will review its staying power!
You sold me!
i’d love to try it!
