I came across this editorial – “Royals” in W Magazine October 2016 and was really intrigued by the title and photographs. Mario Sorrenti took some beautiful photos of some of today’s rising stars along with some classic ones as well. America’s original supermodel, Cindy Crawford, is timelessly beautiful and placed alongside modern beauty Priyanka Chopra. It seems like the media is at least celebrating a more diverse set of actors now. In addition, these royals include women in their 50s, the first popular Egyptian American actor, and a Nigerian English one as well.
But as I was thinking about today’s A-list actors, I was also thinking about how celebrities choose to make an impact. Emma Watson has been a leading voice for the #HeforShe UN Women campaign. Jodie Foster has worked with the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Many actresses spoke openly about the need for equal pay between men and women. I find it really inspirational when people use their positions to advocate for causes that effect all of us. As a result, there is greater awareness and hopefully progress towards positive change. Then, it could also inspire the next generation of royals too.

Wow! I love that picture of Priyanka! That color looks so beautiful on her. There are so many problems in the world, that we all need to do our part. It shouldn’t take an actor or actress to bring awareness. It definitely helps, but we each must do our part.
