“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.”

Are you more of a maximalist or minimalist? I saw these stunning photos of Shanelle Nyasiase by Texama Yeste for Vogue España December 2018 in her bold green outfits. The striking gowns are most definitely formal and beautiful. But they are paired with minimal accessories so one isn’t distracted too much from the beauty of the gowns. This totally speaks to my more minimal style. I suppose the desire to be a bit more elegant but understated started with my mom. She rocked maxi skirts long before I knew what they were called. She also always only had one accessory – a delicate scarf she tied carefully around her neck.
Some of this style has definitely rubbed off on me. I love seeing lots of accessories on other people. Arm parties, multiple earrings, and wonderfully bold makeup looks are always fun. But I also appreciate natural beauty and a bit of elegance. I’m not alone since labels like The Row and movements like “Escape the Corset” celebrate minimalism in fashion and beauty. Part of the aim, no matter what you wear, is to focus on your natural beauty. So maybe you’re a minimalist sometimes and a maximalist other times. But once in a while, pare it down and let that natural beauty shine through.
Have a lovely week!
I’m maximalist, haha!! But, sometimes I like MINIMALISM as well. But, it just depends. I think both are good at certain moments. these photos are stunning, love this striking green :))) Happy monday lovely x
I’ve definitely become more of a minimalist in recent years. I think it has helped me focus more on quality and become more creative with my wardrobe.
I’m not sure where I fall in the spectrum. I love all the minimalist outfits I see, I love the maximalist ones. Maybe I’m a maximalist who wants to pretend to be a minimalist?
Chic on the Cheap
