“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
What were your childhood dreams?
Did you want to become a singer or movie star? Did you want to hike through a rainforest? Did you want to live in a great big house with a picket fence, just like the ones you would see on TV?
I had temporary and fleeting aspirations of becoming a singer. While my voice is passable, I don’t have the range of Mariah Carey or the soulfulness of Adele. Alas, I never went down the American Idol route.
But I have different dreams these days. I would love to own a large, beautiful home that can accommodate the pitter patter of cousins playing happily together. I’d be thrilled to be part of a successful business that makes a positive impact but also allows me the flexibility to pursue other interests. I dream of traveling to Japan during cherry blossom season and viewing the precious pink blooms in person. I’m definitely working towards those dreams and luckily am married to a guy who shares many of them. If I keep dreaming and more importantly doing something about those dreams, I know they will become a reality. Realized dreams are definitely a beautiful thing.
Have a lovely week!
I wanted to become a super hero like wonder woman or Spiderman, no joke!! This was it, hahaha!! That would have been amazing!!! hahaha. Love these pictures. I think dreams change and become something else, but sometimes you still look back and wish you could have become what you wished as a child, and sometimes you do, just in a different way that you first thought. It’s the greatness of dreams, they can come true at any time or age :))) Happy Monday doll xx
My dreams… that question ‘what do you want to be when you grow up’ was always so elusive. And only became worse as the years wore on. In high school when everyone was talking about college, if they didn’t know what they wanted, they at least had a school or a major… and I still feel like I don’t know what I want.
Though whenever I look at these editorials, the dream of being a fashion photographer does resurface… the dream of being so masterful with light that even these shots in the dark of an amusement park look exciting and not blown out by flash or swallowed up in shadows.

You are a great photographer Lydia. If you love it, why not think about that path? I remember Nina of Love & Lemonade switching to the photography profession a few years ago and she adores her job now!
Yes to be abel to realize your dreams is a wonderful thing. So cool that you wanted to be a singer. I wanted to be a nurse as a child but being squeamish made me think otherwise. Have a great week!
