Do you ever dwell on negativity? I saw this editorial for Zendaya for US Vogue June 2019 and her quote and started thinking about her words. Unfortunately, I am definitely someone who dwells (or used to) on my own mistakes. I still recall the fatal mistake I made years ago during an interview for a prestigious firm (a simple mathematical error) and beat myself up for a long time over it. I also recently had a great set of interviews with one firm and also realized in retrospect I misunderstood one of the questions and didn’t answer it completely although I knew the answer. Oh man…So year I’m definitely one that dwells on negativity, especially my own mistakes.
But over time, I’ve started letting go a little. I do think about negative things that I’ve done and how I would try to correct those mistakes in the future. I’ve also been aghast and demoralized by the seemingly never-ending list of issues back on my home turf in the US and across the world. However now I’m realizing that I need to try to do what I can to combat the negativity. Time is the one currency that no one can accumulate. I’m trying to move along quickly and help come up with solutions for myself or to help others. Life isn’t always great, but we can try to make it better and not dwell on the negatives so much.

It’s a good quote although like you I can find it hard to do sometimes, we can be our own harshest critic!

I used to have a real problem with dwelling on how I could’ve done things better but these days I”ve adopted a let it go mode and am really all the more happier for it.
