Retro? Vintage? However, you want to name it I’m TOTALLY down with the styles of yesteryear that are all the rage now. I’ve even started researching vintage stores in my neighborhood (if anyone else has London vintage store suggestions, I’d totally appreciate it!)
Btw, I recall one article in the Knot depicting retro style as more of a 1940s/1950s, drive-in movie, poodle dog skirt kinda vibe.
Taken from here. I’ll admit it, maybe my favorite musical ever (or at least one with the best karaoke songs)
Vintage style was depicted as that of the era that preceded retro – think 1920s flapper chic like this dress that should have been mine.
Sold at Vintageous
So if I was getting married retro style, I’d have to have a kick butt dress with a little edginess. Gotta love the pink petticoat peeking through.
From the fabulous Whirlingturban boutique at just under $1k
Of course I’d need a cute necklace. A rosette with pearls – awww, love it!
Etsy steal at $19.50
Delicate drop pearl earrings.
From Etsy seller in Manila at $38- woohoo, I’m going there soon!
The rose had to come back somewhere and of course I need a cute hairpiece!
Velvet handmade rose goodness for only $12.50 found here
A dainty handbag would of course be required.
Another Etsy steal at less than $40.
Finally, some comfy Mary Janes with a little edge.
Mia Mary Janes – love the peep toe styling and braided details and nicely priced at $66 here
Almost forgot the final touch! Satin gloves of course for that touch of class…
Found at reliable Amazon here.
What do you think? What else would you wear for a retro wedding?
i just adore the petticoat dress. : )
btw, as long as you can provide me with an address in the US then it is good for me. xo
I went through a crazy glove phrase a few weeks ago, when I was determined to wear them at the wedding. Unfortunately, everyone I found would have made me look like a crazy old lady. Sigh. I still love this post 😉
oooh yes! that is just perfect! and i agree with u about Grease but I guess most girls do 🙂
are we the bride or the guest?

@Cupcake wedding – I know, I love the gloves but can’t decide if they’re too out there. Still love the drama.
@Katie – doh I forgot to include the guest dress, saw the white and pink petticoat and all other thoughts escaped me – sigh, another time. I love your suggestions though, very fun!
I think it’s be hot. I think you should just wear it out to dinner next week. In fact, I might buy it and wear it out to dinner next week. I might forgo the long gloves. I love the wrist length kid gloves from the 50’s. So HOT!
100% yes to grease being the best musical, ever 🙂 heeheee. i really like the pearls and gloves and cute purse.
How fun! Grease is my favorite too…love it!
I love the dress! A little bad ass! And the rosette with pearls?! SO CUTE!

I still adore that dress. I’m now in the mood to Grease it up! Movie night tomorrow!
i’d wear that wedding dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in Funny Face. So poofy!

That necklace is beyond gorgeous. I need! 🙂
You probably already know this, but there are great open-air markets at Camden, Greewich, and Portobello Road that have tons of vintage at decent prices (at least, they were when I was in London seven years ago…)
The flapper-esque dress is beautiful.
Come to Shikasuki in Primrose Hill on a Sunday & we can try on lots of dresses.
I love both of those, btw.
