Denim has experienced a pretty meteoric rise in the last ten years. We no longer blink at $100+ jeans and different levels of premium denim (though I will proudly say that I’ve gotten all my premium jeans for
But what styles should truly be wardrobe staples? While skinny fit jeans have lasted a few seasons and wide leg/flared leg jeans are this year’s must-have, I’m aiming in the middle with a pair of trouser jeans. These also have a flared leg and comfortable cut (for those days when you don’t wait your pants to be too tight), but still somewhat fitted. Most importantly, they are totally versatile and can be dressed up or down.
Here are my top picks:
Save!
– Go through Big Crumbs or Mr. Rebates first for a cashback rebate of 3-5% at all of the stores above.
– Designer outlets such as Loehmann’s or Filene’s Basement in the US would likely stock these styles (just dig around!) or wait for them to pop up in an online sample sale, but know your size and style!
Wow! Love the wide leg trousers… Thanks for sharing.
I love these choices for jeans, especially the first two!
Oh cute, I want a pair!
I love trouser jeans as well! Have a few pairs right now, and love how versatile they are! I am proud that I have gotten most of my premium denim for under $100, but I bought a couple pairs of citizens when they first landed in Nordstrom for basically full price (ouch)! What can I say, I was so excited about how they fit, I had to have them! Now I buy Citizens on ebay (often for less than $50)!
I generally wear a style similar to this – more boot cut like. I find they are much more flattering, especially since I am figured. Although I like straight leg as well, I leave the super skinny cigarette and pencil leg jeans to those young girls with more boyish bodies.
I really like your blog.
great pictures.
check out mine.
hope you will follow me 🙂

Great jeans! Love the look of the ones from Couture Candy.
Love Joes jeans!! But flare legs makes me somehow feel like I have short legs…? But Joes make a great but:)
I like the first! Happy Thursday, doll!
Xx
Love them all. I’m a big flare girl. Totally works with my ahem curves 🙂
I love that trouser and wide-leg jeans are back! I never could rock the skinny jeans – they made me look too disproportionate. The Sevens are my favorites of the ones you posted 🙂
Great guide! I have the toughest time finding jeans that fit me properly, but I’ll have to check out your recos 🙂
i’m not fond of wide legs, but for some – they’ll look great!
kisses.
I do love a good pair of trouser pants!!! They are so chic and comfy!
Regarding your comment about my Lanvin for H&M sunnies – Yes I was fortunate enough to grab a dress too! 🙂
xoxo,
Mel

ohh I like how wide leg and boot leg is in again, cuz all my jeans are wide and boot leg haha! lovely picks xo
I have Michael Kors pair I really need to bust out!
I practically live in my jeans. I think Iris Apfel recently said that she thinks paying excessive amounts for jeans is nonsene, since higher priced denim isn’t superior to retail branded ones. I’ve never paid more than $100 for a pair either. I need to dig out my more flared trouser jeans I wore when I was much younger, but I must say, I’ll never abandon my skinnies! Flares just don’t mesh with ballerinas.
Words cannot describe how happy I am to see skinny jeans take the back burner.
Hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend!
love the flared look. hope you had a great weekend, lady!
Love flares! Happy Sunday xx
I don’t know if I like the flare jeans, it reminds me 80’s years too much..I think that wearing one of them I could say PEACE AND LOVE to everyone nears me! 😛
My blog: Cheap is Chic

Chic on the Cheap
It seems I need to head over to the GAP soon. Those wide leg trousers are FAB! xoxo
still my favorite jean style after all these years! and i really need some jeans to fit my new body.
I absolutely love flare jeans 🙂 Even though they are not that recommended for my very short height! Haha, I still love them and wearing them on occasion 🙂
xo
I get all my designer jeans on sale too. With places like century 21, nordstrom rack, etc. there is no reason to pay full price!
trouser jeans are the best! i buy them in dark washes and wear them to work 😉
the last pair are perfect, not to 70’s but still current and attractive 🙂
I’m loving my wide leg jeans right now, too! My fave pair is from Uniqlo.
I love how these jeans have a classic look and could work well with most body types. Super like 🙂
