“Everyone can identify with a fragrant garden, with beauty of sunset, with the quiet of nature, with a warm and cozy cottage.”
Summer is a time for dining al fresco and enjoying the bounty of your garden. I’ve recently been seeing pictures of friends picking the first fruits of the season from their gardens. I got to see my mother’s garden when I was back in New York. She has a wonderful combination of specialty roses and peonies to bunches of kale. It makes me miss having a garden in our little apartment.
I immediately thought of the quintessential English countryside when I saw this editorial of Sophie Turner for the Edit April 2016. I’ve read that visitors are flocking to the UK now in hopes of a good deal. But one of my main reasons for wanting to visit is to see the English countryside in the spring. We never got to see much more of the UK when we lived in London. It would be nice to go to see the flowers in bloom and view a much more intimate, quiet area.
I once lived in the countryside in France for a few months and it was also a beautiful, quiet place. Beautiful red and golden leaves crept up the house in the fall and were steps away from a lush forest. But the best part of being in the country is to be able to connect with your loved ones in a serene setting. I’ll have to start planning the next countryside visit then!
Have a lovely week!
Your description of the countryside also has me yearning to traipse through rose laden gardens and fields of fresh green lawn. I’m not one for gardens as such, not obsessively that is. I do appreciate them and I’ve always imagined that the UK would be especially opulent to visit because of it’s climate and history.

My husband would be so excited to see this editorial because he adores her. I wouldn’t mind seeing the countryside either.
Lucky you to have lived in the French countryside! That must’ve been such a lovely experience!
It does look like an English Countryside! The last four dresses are my favorites.
