“Invest the first hour of the day, the ‘Golden Hour,’ in yourself.“
Brian Tracy
When do you set aside time for yourself? I saw this editorial of Sophia young for Elle Mexico July 2019 with its gorgeous golden hour vibes and pondered over this quote. I love the stillness of that time right before the sun rises. The world is so peaceful and quiet at that time. I am definitely a morning person and could easily go to the gym for a bit or just do a little work in that small window of time for myself.
In recent years, it has been harder to get that time for myself. My kids are also early risers. I somehow frequently get up only a minute before hearing the mewling coming from my littlest one. Then morning cuddles are demanded and I only have time for some stretches before diving headlong into my day. My husband and I also try to spend some quality time together in the evening (which now consists of his latest obsession – “Infinity Wars” on his Nintendo Switch lol). We are consciously trying to remember to set aside some time for us apart from family time.
So I find myself having to be creative in carving out time for myself. I’m making the most of commutes by listening to more audiobooks. I am doing small exercises (well physiotherapy ones I need to do anyway) a few times a day. Occasionally, I will have a coffee date with myself so I can really take care of things. It’s taken me a while, but I really appreciate carving time out for myself now. We all need that time to relax, get centered and give ourselves the freedom to do what we want. Here’s to some of that golden hour time then!
Have a lovely week!

I’m really trying to put aside more time to myself, it’s not been easy as I always seem to have something to do or family around. but, i’m finding i need it more really as not getting it just makes me feel down. i hope you’re having a great week so far x
THe days go by so quickly, it always feels hard to make time amidst everything that needs to get done. I wish I were an early riser, but I struggle to tear myself away from bed before the sun has fully risen.
