Photo Love: Zen State of Mind (or a nice version of Serenity Now)

May 31, 2010

I look at this photo and am instantly in a more zen state of mind.  The crisp white robe, gorgeous blue water, and that ridiculous tattoo are just plain amazing.  Relax.  Be cool.

 From here

I could certainly be in a non-zen place because I found out that our corporate housing (where we stayed for a month prior to finding our apartment) had our passports the whole time.  Though we spoke to them 3 times because we suspected our passports were left in the safe, they repeatedly denied it until they found it yesterday and called me.  A month, four embassy visits, and a few new passports late, my dears.
I can’t make up for the lost time now and be frustrated because it wouldn’t actually change anything.  As I’ve gotten older,  I’ve learned to accept that some things are nonsensical and make my peace.  Not always easy, but good for my mental happiness in the long run.  I’m also thinking of taking up yoga because I haven’t done it in a few years and the physical and mental relaxation could be a good thing.

So how do you get into a Zen state of mind?

    Sorry to read about the nuisance re your passport. I have never done yoga, but its something I may consider taking up in the future.

    That tattoo is surely a henna tattoo?!

    Talk about frustration, we also had a share of some lately. We ordered a demilune from this furniture shop 2 months ago and we only got it yesterday. That’s after countless of calls to the store who seemed to be totally clueless of their estimated delivery date and did not even bother telling us that at one point last month, it was discontinued. I was so close to blogging and tweeting about their bad customer service but in the end, just laughed about it. I told myself it’s really just a piece of wood, not worth stressing over. =)

    How crazy is that? That is a headache. no wonder you are drawn to this zen photo. I would be seeking peace in a frustrating situation like that.

    Do you think that tattoo is real?

    How annoying about your passports!!! Glad you are taking it on the chin. Can’t change it now unfortunately.

    @mangocheeks and @Mrs. T – yes I think this is a henna tattoo and a lovely one!

    Annoying, but you have the right attitude. Gardening brings me peace, and very boring activities like window cleaning or lawn mowing.

    I love that photo. That’s such a beautiful tattoo.

    Oh that’s so frustrating! I’m so sorry to hear. You have a great outlook on things though. And yoga should help with any future annoyances which we are all bound to have. I have to get into it as well 🙂

    I can’t believe what happened with your passports – how infuriating! I’m jealous of you zen-like attitude, though. I’d like to rant for a little while first 😉
