“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style”
— Maya Angelou
Harper’s Bazaar Arabia December 2014
How do you live your life?
I started wondering this even before Ms. Angelou’s quote above. Many times, I used to feel like I was just floating through life and perhaps not seizing it as fully as possible. I have certainly felt that way at points this past year with the arrival of the little lady. I was slipping and overwhelmed with the responsibility and the new way of life solely centered around someone who was wholly dependent on me. I wondered how other moms seemed to handle child rearing so effortlessly while remaining stylish, running businesses/working full-time, and easily managing their households. My hat still goes off to those super moms and who knows, perhaps I can aspire to be one of them some day.
But for now, I am happy that I can still slip on a chic maxi dress and put on a bright coat of Marc Jacobs lip gel when I go out with my husband and daughter. I like to make an effort to look my best even if we are going somewhere casual. My husband has also been so supportive in helping me not just to survive, but really thrive with compassion and humor. I certainly hope to take that attitude into the new year as well and this is a great start to my resolutions for next year.
Have a lovely week!
I think grasping every moment and really let it sink in is important, sometimes we do float through life without a notice. Being more mindful is the way. Take each day as it comes. These are gorgeous pictures. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas my dear, I had a much needed break. I hope the New Year is wonderful for you xo
The pictures are so lovely!
You’ve experienced so many changes. I know things will get easier though. It’s an adjustment. I’m looking forward to the New Year.

Thank you dear – it has been quite a year! I hope that you have a wonderful new year too!
I love that quote so much. I’ve definitely struggled with floating through life and not knowing what my true purpose is, but I’m glad to be getting motivated for the new year and all it holds. Happy 2015!
Heather, I wish you the best in the New Year too! The path can be murky, but you’ll find it and continue to have fun along the way!

Happy New Year to you and your family Shia! SJP’s style really rocs. Who knows – maybe even she wears a scrunchie occasionally too!
