Did you watch the Oscars last night? Most importantly, did you watch the Oscars Red Carpet 2016?
The fashion is always my favorite part of the Oscars ceremony (well that and the funny monologues and unexpected speeches). But really, it’s all about the swoon-worthy gowns. This is most certainly a time when every actor and actress will look their best (or at least make a statement). Custom and couture gowns are plentiful as designers rush to dress A-list actresses. The ladies especially are selling glamour.
The gowns above are my favorite gowns of the evening. There are two ends of the spectrum from the amazingly intricate to stunning simplicity. Cate Blanchett was one of my favorites of the night in an insanely beautiful Armani Privé gown with three dimensional flowers; floral details were carried off on a different scale in Jennifer Jason Leigh and Chrissy Teigen’s gowns. I always love lace and Jennifer Lawrence’s lace Dior gown with tiers of ruffles was gorgeous as was Priyanka Chopra’s white Zuhair Murad gown which gave off a sensual bridal feel. On there other end of the spectrum, I loved the simple silhouettes of Mindy Kaling in Elizabeth Kennedy to Rachel McAdams in a beautiful green August Getty Atelier dress. There were a few dresses with just a touch of interest (asymmetrical lines or a mix of textures) and Jennifer Garner rocked her black Versace gown as did Sofia Vergara in an unexpectedly ethereal navy blue Marchesa gown. Long live glamour!
Have a lovely week!
I didn’t watch, but I’m seeing everyone’s look everywhere and I’m glad that Leo won too – finally! All of these gowns are stunning…Happy Monday doll xx
I watched a little of both. The Walking Dead was more important in our house. I thought Cate Blanchett and Margot Robbie absolutely killed it on the red carpet.
Charlize was a favorite in my books. Just stunning like her Dior commercials. That necklace just knocked the dress outta the park!
Nice post… I do like so many of the above dresses!
