“I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.”
– Vincent Van Gogh
I’ve always had such a great appreciation for artists of every kind.
If only I could create the lighting and colors of a summer day the way Renoir could capture in a painting. Or I would love to create a whole new world complete with magic, mystery, and entirely new kinds of people (or new names for us ahem muggles). I also enjoy viewing artists perform as they become an entirely new person retelling a tale from another time and in turn transporting me to that era and that moment.
That’s why I thought it was also really interesting to see modern actors and entertainers juxtaposed on classic older paintings. Eisen Bernard created a series where he placed modern day magazine covers on familiar works of arts. Madonna is featured a few times and it is amazing to see how seamlessly she fit into Renaissance era paintings to impressionists works of art. It was a fun twist of seeing such distinct works of art married together. I imagine that Bernard envisioned these pieces by glimpsing a painting and then a magazine cover once and thought about how they could fit together. I certainly have the utmost respect for someone who can paint to perform a fun work of art like this. It is also interesting to think about how artistic poses are truly timeless.
In the meantime, I will sit back and enjoy viewing these fun works of art.
Have a lovely week!

It’s really cool to see such a dichotomy of styles married together like this. I’ve always wished I had the talent for painting or drawing.
I wish I could do something like this! I am loving the Madonna ones!
