“To make a prairie it takes a clover and one bee, One clover, and a bee, and revery. The revery alone will do, If bees are few.”
Emily Dickinson

Bees and honey were probably about the last subjects I would think of for a fashion editorial (or this usual inspirational post of the week). Why bees and what is so interesting or special about them?
But it made me think a little bit about this simple little insect. Did you know that bees are the largest segment of insects that contribute to insect pollination and insect pollination may be responsible for up to one-third of the human food supply? Wow. I guess these little guys are pretty important after all huh?
It also made me think about us and the impact that each of us has on other people. I may not be a visionary like Steve Jobs was and create revolutionary consumer products. I’m also not Mother Theresa that has worked with countless people that needed basic food and necessities. I also wonder how much impact I have had in my various corporate roles (let’s face it – the world wasn’t a better, cooler place because of my roles). But I hope that I have had an impact on the families that I work with on a volunteer basis. If I can bring teach them something new and bring them comfort, I feel like I would have made a difference. I may also segue out of the corporate world to work with smaller businesses that need help. I hope these small impacts will improve someone’s situation somewhere.
So don’t downplay the impact you may have on the world. Every individual makes a difference. Our collective actions may also create a large effect on the world. Otherwise, as Ms. Dickinson said we can at least come together and have fun while trying to make a difference. How do you impact the world?
Have a lovely week!
You have impacted both individuals and organizations! You’re always so helpful. I try to help someone whenever possible. The smallest of gestures can mean so much.
Bees are so important, people just don’t realise how they work for the Earth. The first photo of this shoot didn’t work for me, I was like what are they doing!?! Hahaha. They look awkward or something, not sure why. Like she got lost on the way to somewhere fancy and found a bee keeper and just posed in there. Hahaha. I like it though…really pretty. Have a great week doll x
Haha, sometimes the styling can be a little odd in photo shoots! Have a lovely week too dear!
I’m still trying to figure out how I impact the world – beautiful photos, and I don’t know how those ladies wore those towering heels in the middle of the prairie!
Stunning. Absolutely gorgeous.
Great post! People don’t realize how important a small creature like the bee truly is.
Beautiful! I love the lay out and sentiments. It’s wonderful that you are doing things to help the world. I think we all need to strive to do what our conscience urges, and it sounds as if you are.
