“People rarely succeed unless they are having fun in what they are doing.”
Dale Carnegie
Are you having fun in your job?
I realized that I wasn’t having fun in my career many years into it. I actually had attained greater responsibilities and roles in that time. But unfortunately, I felt like I was going through the motions. I started making changes and pursuing different kinds of work. It was so hard to tear myself away from what I knew and where I developed my professional skills up to that point. What do you do when you have only stayed in one function for a while?
But I really wasn’t having fun. I lacked passion for the industry and my job. It took some soul searching and frank conversations with my husband to land in a very different space. I am happier with my new role and still even think about entertaining my other interests in design, fashion, and new products some day. Hopefully I’ll be able to both indulge those passions and succeed as well.
Have a lovely week!
I love that peach jacket! Glad to hear that you are happy in your new role. I switched careers, sort of about 6 years ago, but it’s still in fashion, just more business side of things. I do miss designing though, although currently I would describe my job as very busy and meticulous not “fun,” there certainly are wonderful perks! So I cannot complain!

I think it’s true, if your not having fun, you don’t always put in as much passion and energy as you would if you loved what you’re doing. I know its not always easy for people to do the things they love, but we should always at least try to do it in some way or another. These shorts remind of the ones the boys used to wear when I was little or the ones my highschool gym teacher wore and I would tease him and say those are short shorts & whistle, haha! He was a great teacher 🙂 Happy Monday doll, I hope you have a fantastic week xx
I love that quote and can relate to your experience, as I also decided to take a different direction after what I thought was my dream career ended up not being so. I’m still working to find the best path, but I think I’m on the right track!
It really is a challenge to find that balance where work and passion and success intersect…. I applaud you for leaving the place where you were unhappy and putting yourself out there! Not everyone is so brave…
I just love the sporty shorts look. So retro!
I’m not sure I could get away with showing that much leg!
I really need to find something different and not another office job. I know this is my time to really figure out what it may be, put myself out there and have some fun, but I keep trapping myself under the daily minutiae and somehow six months has already flown by!
i do enjoy my job as a nanny and my blog as a blogger, too!
