“A city is a place where there is no need to wait for next week to get the answer to a question, to taste the food of any country, to find new voices to listen to and familiar ones to listen to again.”
Margaret Mead
I am a proud city girl.
At this point, I have lived in cities throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Each city certainly has its own personality and vibe. I’m not sure how long we will stay in this city, but I know that we will always live in a city.
This editorial had me thinking about my upcoming trip to New York. I know I’m biased since its my hometown, but New York is really the ultimate city for me. It could be the size, the short, but storied past, its role as a fashion and financial capital, or my own history with the place. But as Margaret Mead, a place is also about the diversity and vibrancy of the people as well. I’m of course making time to see good friends and old colleagues. We are all in different places in life with our own distinct paths. But it will great to hear about my friend’s own experiences and journeys along the way. Oh and of course we will meet over savory Peruvian food, freshly grilled Shake Shack burgers, and spicy Southeast Asian food. I’m definitely looking forward to being back in the city.
What are your favorite aspects of your own home city?
Have a lovely week!
These are stunning photos!! I love NY, it’s my favourite place in America. Such a diverse and lively place. Must see it again sometime. Have a wonderful week doll xx
I always love catching up with old friends when I’m in NYC, I think that as much of the city is still the biggest draw. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Hi hun, you are so lucky to have lived and experienced life in not only different cities but different continents as well. I am more a small town type of girl. I don’t know if I am brave enough to just leave SA. I love that beautiful teal coat and the gold lame Prada dress….Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, wishing you a good start to the new week!
Sam, you would have a ton of fun exploring other cities! if you are ever in NYC or SE Asia, I’ll be your guide!
Have a great time! I can’t wait to visit one day. New Orleans is all about fun & food. There’s always something going on and something to do.
I live more in the burbs than a city, and I actually really like it. But what I love about city living is being able to walk to places like restaurants, bars and boutiques. I was driving in San Fran the other day and there were way too many one-way streets. Driving in the city is no bueno.

I agree with everything you said about NYC. I think the energy here is unmatched but you know that. If we can work out our schedules, I’d love to meet up with you when you’re back… over something yummy natch 🙂

Rowena, I meant to email you this week but it’s been a little insane! I’ve been scheduled to bits and exhausted but would love to attempt a meet up another time. I’m moving back to NYC eventually, but hopefully we meet up before then!
Beautiful! The second picture is my favorite 🙂
