“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.â€
― Leo Tolstoy
Harper’s Bazaar Mexico June 2013
I saw this Harper’s Bazaar editorial with beautiful clothing reminiscent of the 1960s – an era of great cultural change.
Change is one of the hardest things to go through.
Some of it is a natural evolution of life – we get older, we graduate from school, we take on jobs. But internal change can be so much harder. We may want to become better friends, better family members or change into better careers. But we can become distracted with the day to day requirements of life and lose track of these goals. Or we may make some progress towards these changes, but become disheartened when we don’t see the results quickly enough.
As Leo Tolstoy said above, we can try to change others, we can try to change the world around us, but perhaps we need to concentrate on ourselves. I know I have been working on personal changes for a while – becoming more proactive and learning more about different interests in the hope of making them full time endeavors one day. It is certainly a work in progress.
How have you sought to change yourself?
Have a lovely week!
Gorgeous images!! Change can be hard, but it is something that is always needed to go further. We can’t expect to win every race in life doing the same thing, because every situation is different. And to grow as a person, we need to change and evolve, getting better – hopefully!! Change is good :)) I hope you have a marvellous week my sweet xx
I love that checkered skirt! I hate change on all fronts, but I love variety. Such a contradiction.
wow, I could almost have been fooled into thinking this was not a present day spread.
and you are quite right, we need to work on changing ourselves before anything or anyone else.
Change is necessary in order to GROW and EVOLVE! If everything stayed the same this would be a stagnant world. This must happen in your personal and professional life. Personally, I’m always trying to learn something new. I love learning about cultures & their customs. I love reading about the world. Professionally, I’m always looking for new opportunities and growth. You should never be satisfied where you are in Life. There’s always so much more.
Well said Kim! It is so great how you are constantly pushing yourself to learn something new. There really is so much more to life!
This is such an important quote and message! Inner change and betterment is definitely challenging, but it’s something we should all strive to do.
Love the bold geometrics in this arresting photo spread, how cute is the red and white striped Moschino look! Stopping by to wish you well for the week ahead.
Change has always very much been apart of my life since I’ve moved so much growing up. Emotional change is definitely difficult to go through. I love the white eyelet dress, it’s gorgeous! x/Madison
Love the quote and the pictures!
This editorial has a great retro glam feel! Change can be hard but it’s also integral to life.
You should definitely hit tup EJB the next time you’re back in town. The food is great and I think you’d enjoy the atmosphere as well 🙂

I think change gets easier for me as I’ve gotten older. I’ve learned to let go – it’s a lot harder to control every.single.thing. Plus I’m a lot happier that way. Kids don’t let you control anything!
this is such a great retro inspired spread!

First of all I’m utterly fascinated by these looks reminiscent of the 60s. I agree with what you say: on the other hand, I think that the most difficult change is to learn to accept ourselves for what we really are, instead of trying to change our nature 🙂
