He who would search for pearls must dive below.Â

Stephen Alvarez “Earth from Below” project
We have all had those periods in our lives – those times when we just seem to get into funks and are feeling generally low. Â While these times may be trying, we may discover things about ourselves (hidden reserves, strengths, ability to deal with any situation) that were previously unknown and can pull ourselves into a new situation. Â My husband and I were just discussing the differences in our lives last year and this year. Â We were living in a tiny (but fabulously located) studio in London, looking for jobs, and unsure of the future. Â It wasn’t always easy and the uncertainty was a strain.
But we made the most of our situation, explored our hometown for the moment, and persevered (living in such a historic and culturally rich city certainly made things easier!) Â My husband’s experience in London also helped him to secure his job here in another corner of the world. Â We are in such a different situation and appreciate it even more because we still remember our experiences, how they contributed to where we are today, and how we remained content.
If times are tough, just remember that it may take a long road to get to where you want to be, but you may discover beauty around you and inside you that gets you to your destination.
Have a lovely week!
Looking back can definitely make you appreciate where you are.

Fabulous shots and wonderful advice!!
wow what a lovely post and I completely agree. Sometimes we just need to stop and appreciate what we have. And wow how fun you lived in a studio in London. That’s the kind of experience you’ll have with you forever.

I really needed this post today – I’m at a crossroads in my job and am contemplating a move. I don’t doubt that the process will be long and trying, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Thanks for the lovely images!

i agree that there’s lots of options in life.. sometimes we’re soo nailed to this one thing we want, but during that journey, we find that there’s lots of other options that we can go for 🙂

Beautiful!!! This post got to me in so many levels, but it’s like they also say things will get worse before they get better. Everything that happens in our life even the smallest of things are what make us who we are 😉 I love the pictures 😉 Happy Monday sweetie 😉 xo
How true. Beautiful and inspiring post.
I really needed to read this today. Not in a very good place and needing to reach into those reserves you mentioned. Sadly, also not sure how much is left in them. Argh

I couldn’t agree more, very inspirational! XX!
This post reminded me of when I first moved here with no friends, family, or work experience. I was definitely in a funk for a long while but that certainly makes me appreciate how happy I am now!
