“What makes the desert beautiful,’ said the little prince, ‘is that somewhere it hides a well…”
— Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (The Little Prince)

Have you been to the desert?
I’ve passed through the dessert when my aunt and uncle would pack up four kids in a well stocked minivan over the summer and take us on road trips around the West Coat. We passed through Death Valley (Mojave) Desert and Sonora Desert. I do of course remember the heat but also remember being ridiculously dressed – seriously I wore a turtleneck in Death Valley! I also remember catching my first glimpses of beautiful cactus plants and tumbleweeds. The desert is such a beautiful and barren environment. I not only enjoyed the vast serenity of the desert, but also finding hidden treasures like a lone plant toughing it out.
This editorial reminds me that there are always glimpses of beauty to look forward to in what may seem like a bleak place. I have had a rough patch lately and at times it seemed like nothing bright was on the horizon. But then I had an unexpectedly wonderful time on a regular stroll through the mall after witnessing Christmas character on stilts (too cute!) and seeing some beautifully decorated windows for the holidays. It reminded me to enjoy the moment and remember that there are always lovely sights on the horizon.
Have a lovely week!
Lovely editorial!

It’s true sometimes we forget that beauty is all around us, even in a desert. I love viewing the Christmas decorations and windows this time of year. Sorry to hear about your rough patch, I think it happens to us. I left something before going on holiday and now have had to spend unnecessary money to buy more. But, there’s always things to be grateful for. Wishing you a wonderful holiday! 🙂

Thanks for your kind words Madison! You are so right and there is always something to be grateful for in our crazy lives. I wish you a very merry holiday too dear!
Beautiful pictures! I love the mix of colors and textures 🙂
The Little Prince is one of my favorite books ever! I’ve never been to a desert but I think it would be a cool experience.
You are reminding me to order “the Little Prince” for my little one. It is such a classic book and I sadly never read it so it will be a great first for both of us!
The colors in this editorial are so rich and vibrant! Beautiful! I also hope you have a very Merry Christmas if I am not able to pop back into blog land before then!:-)
Thank you Stacey! If I don’t see you in blogland in the next few weeks, I wish you a very merry Christmas with your boys!
I grew up in So Cal, so I love the desert, too. And you’re right, there are always lovely sights on the horizon, plus joy in unexpected places.
I’ve never been to the desert. I bet it’s something to see. The closest i’ve been is Vegas 🙂
