“Ballet is like dreaming on your feet.”
– Unknown
When was the last time you attended the ballet? What did you think of it?
I remember going to a production of “Swan Lake” a few years ago and truly thinking the characters stepped out of a beautifully choreographed dream. The dancers lithely floated in light puffs of tulle across the stage as they celebrated their unfortunate swan forms. The movement and the mood from the haunting music transported me to a time of tragedy, lost loves, and forgiveness.
I’m thinking about the ballet again as the holiday season approaches and I am reminded of “The Nutcracker” and the different, lively mood of that story. I’m not much of a dancer myself, and can’t necessarily relate to being the embodiment of a character in a story, but love being a witness to the grand arches, cascading notes, and graceful movement of a classic ballet. Can you imagine attending a ballet at the stunning and historic Paris Opera Ballet, where these photos were taken?
Le sigh indeed. Until then, keep dreaming on your feet friends!
Have a lovely week!
I haven’t attended the ballet since I was a teenager when I went to see a production of Giselle with a friend’s family at Lincoln Center. I remember being quite entranced by both the dancers and the story. This editorial is just stunning!
Last year’s Nutcracker. I love when Vogue does ballet editorial inspired pieces. They are so gorgeously styled!
Paris Opera Ballet looks stunning and those photos took my breath away. Ah, I am totally going to daydream about ballet today. xoxo
Loved this editorial. I’m a fan of the ballet too. Love the nutcracker around Christmas. So beautiful.
