The glitz and glamour were out in full force on the Oscars red carpet as movie stars pulled out their biggest fashion hits (or misses!) of the year. Stars and stylists alike saved their style points up to put on what they felt were the most beautiful gowns and accessories. Fashion may be in the eye of the beholder, but style is owned by the individual and actresses showed their different interpretations of style tonight.
The gowns worn by the most famous actresses could be grouped into a few categories and all show beautiful craftsmanship. While it would be impossible to emulate the most intricate styles, there are more affordable choices as well. While I may definitely want to save up a stunning L’Wren Scott gown some day, at least it is nice to know I have a few beautiful and realistic options in the meantime.
The three main dress categories consisted of:
Light colored and bridal gown inspiration
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture (great, subtle detail on the skirt)
Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra (hmm, this seems both formal and casual at the same time and the tulle seems misplaced)
Anne Hathaway in Prada (great structure though the bodice is a little too sharp)
Charlize Theron in Dior Couture (clean and elegant!)
A more affordable look here:
Empire waist gown with bias cut Banded Bodice, White by Vera Wang for David’s Bridal, $778
Embellished and awesome
Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott (phenomenal detail)
Jennifer Hudson in Robert Cavalli (so sleek!)
Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani (unexpected and interesting for a sequined gown)
Halle Berry in Versace (great bold pattern)
A more affordable look here:
David Meister chevron sequined gown, Neiman Marcus, $670
Vibrant and vivacious
Fan Bing Bing in Marchesa (a modern day princess gown)
Jane Fonda in Atelier Versace (sharp and slightly retro)
Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton (very sharp and French)
Jennifer Aniston in Valentino Couture (simple and red)
A more affordable look here:
Lauren by Ralph Lauren wrapped bodice sweetheart gown, Nordstrom, $210

What was your favorite look (Nicole Kidman’s gorgeously embellished gown may have been mine)?
Loved all these gowns, they are stunning!! Wouldn’t mind any of them!! I hope your weekend was bliss doll…have a sweet week xx
I think Nicole Kidman’s looks was my favorite! Jennifer Hudson looked great, too. I was not a fan of Jane Fonda’s dress, but yellow has never been my favorite color . . .
There are definitely some bold choices and some I really did not care for – but I think Jennifer lawrence’s gown is my favorite. Love the dimensions and subtle pattern and it looks so effortless on her.
i loved halle’s dress!
You definitely nailed the trends! I loved the red dresses–although few and far between, they stood out the most to me.
