Throw back that stereotype – pearls are no longer that conservative piece worn only by women sipping tea and wearing elbow length gloves (though how fun is that?). My mom lent me the most beautiful set of double stranded pearls to wear at my wedding and they were ridiculously fabulous – the stuff of Holly Golightly dreams.
I’ll miss ma and of course her lovely jewelry collection when I’m on the other side of the world.
In the meantime, I have to start building up my own collection and have been browsing for pearls on my own (and I’ve always been curious about that Mikimoto sale in NYC but that’ll have to wait – that’s possibly something worth the price).
Here are some picks for modern pearls:
Thanks Pink Argyle for recommending Regina B – glorious pearl pieces with lovely silver tone embellishment. Pretty investment worthy at $265.
…and a lust item, glass pearls with Swarovski crystals…love the graduated sizes in pearls
I would wear the heck out of all of those. The standard strand of pearls doesn’t look quite right on me, but I love when they get funkied up. 🙂 I wore an illusion pearl necklace and drop pearl earrings for my wedding!
i like all of the options you posted 🙂 i think pearls are a fun accessory and they provide a classic look. the only pearls i have owned were either faux ones from clothing stores or freshwater ones my grandmother purchased from markets in the philippines. both are very simple and budget friendly, although i do dream of mikimoto.
I like the Regina B bracelet
I love the Ann Taylor bracelet! I would definitely wear that on my wedding day.
I wear earring pearls every day, they have something so classic and so stylish at the same time. Love the first bracelet
Love the first pair of earrings, the multistrand necklace and the Regina B bracelet!
I love me some pearls too. They never go out of style! 🙂 My current fave piece are a pair of Tahitian studs.
That J crew necklace is heavenly. I love seed pearls, tiny vintage ones – so pretty. Pearls are timeless – I think every girl should own some.
P.s. Thanks for having my back re the punching. ha.
That j Crew necklace is so pretty! I love pearls!
I have a freshwater pearl necklace that I wore for my senior portraits when I graduated from high school. I rarely wear it, but still love it. I also have a single saltwater pearl that I got straight from the clam from a touristy vendor in S.F. At least that’s what they said it was. But who knows.
Loving all of these! Sometimes I’m not so sure that I can pull pearls off but these are speaking to me 🙂
I’m loving that J. Crew necklace!
Great blog!
I definitely think a classic long strand of pearls can be very versatile.
Gorgeous picks dear, I can’t decide on just one to choose as my favourite! I do so love pearls when they are mixed up with ribbons and/or other types of jewels as it gives it more a modern feel, or wearing long multiple strands.
What a lot of beautiful pearls! The earrings are stunning, and I just adore the cute little nest.
Love love love pearls. That AT bracelet is calling to me!
Pearls are one of my favorite gems – they look strikingly modern, classic or cool depending on how they’re styled!
So…I was debating whether or not to splurge on the Regina B. jewelry I posted, and now you’ve put me even closer to buying them!
I love pearls. It is also my birthstone so I’ve always had a lot of them growing up.
I adore pearls! They’re a lovely, simple way to dress up any outfit.
