“You can either see yourself as a wave in the ocean or you can see yourself as the ocean.”
Oprah Winfrey
What are your ambitions? Do you want to be a CEO? Would you like to create a pioneering application or product? I thought that this quote by Oprah Winfrey above was really interesting. This editorial of Natasha Poly by Txema Yeste for Vogue Russia June 2017. “On the Crest of a Wave”, isn’t a groundbreaking summer spread, but has some interesting pictures. Oprah’s words also got me thinking about whether I’m a change maker or just want to be part of the crowd.
I’ve been part of a few startups, particularly early stage ones recently. I love to be on the ground floor of creating something new and exciting from scratch. There can be so much to do, design, and refine. While I love being part of a company that creates something innovative, I’ve never been an entrepreneur myself. I’ve been too risk averse to actually jump in and forge a path for a new idea. I’m perfectly fine with this and am happy being the second in command or help shape an idea. But I won’t be the one creating that ocean. Perhaps I’m just a larger set of waves then? I’m fine with that and creating a few waves as I go along as well.
Have a lovely week!
wow those pics are amazing, i love her <3
I’ve never wanted the spotlight either! LOL I do good work. I help Others on projects. I was once offered a lead position with a company and I turned it down. I didn’t want that responsibility. Some things are worth it and other things are not. The head guy I would work on had 3 other people working under him. He would call them 3 in the morning. You can’t use paper clips. You would have to travel here one day and then somewhere the next. It wasn’t worth it for me. LOL
