I have a guest post on Wishpot‘s Wedding and Fashion Blogs today (so exciting, my first guest post!)
My post is about using your wedding registry to get cool things you want for the wedding itself – think makeup, birdcage veils, jewelry, ties, etc.! This was especially relevant for us because we moved to another country and didn’t want to bring too much stuff (even if we hadn’t I have a TON of house stuff due to my obsession with Amazon’s housewares department ).
As I mentioned here, we really loved having a unique wedding registry that really reflected what was uniquely important to us – donations to the American Cancer Society, a man-purse for Mr. Gadget’s Amazon Kindle DX, and luggage for our travels (and boy, are those babies getting mileage!) So I’m a total advocate of a registry that allows you to select items (even from Etsy!!!) from across the web.
Also for my bride friends still wondering about whether to even have a registry, go for it, and make it fun! We initially didn’t want one either for the reasons mentioned above. But if your friends and family are generously gifting you something, don’t leave too much to their imagination – accept the fact that you will receive gifts and pick them out yourself.
I still use Wishpot to organize my online shopping lists because hey there’s always something to shop for dream about and my Bookmarks menu is too full.
Bravo Bride also contacted me recently and said they listed me as one of their favorite wedding blogs. Aww thanks! Did they find the picture of me making a cross-eyed look at my husband during our wedding ceremony? I am unfortunately not brave enough to post that right now.
But I will post an example of how silly faces between cousins never dies.
They seriously post some funny pictures and I love people that can laugh at themselves.
Ladies, this could be you – wedding gown + worm = awesome memories
That is actually a really cool idea. I never knew that there was websites that allowed you to find stuff from all different kinds of stores! I might have to try that, though I’ll have to consider all of the older folks who don’t know how to use a computer. =]
Oh! And my bookmarks are chalk full of stuff too. It’s really very unorganized but oh well.
LOL! How did the gown hold up to all that floor dancing? 😀
congrats on your guest post 🙂 i’ll head over to check it out!
at first, we were apprehensive about having a registry, but now we are happy we had one. ours was not as cool as yours (love that charity and luggage is on yours!), but we did get lots of new kitchen items to replace our old/worn college items.
and funny photos at weddings are the best!! the worm photo… too much fun 🙂
I love the worm, and I love that photograph!
gorgeous gown dear!
the last pic is so funny:)
what a great idea for a registry.
and CONGRATS on the Bravo Bride List (of course you should be on there!)
these photos made me giggle. I WILL be that bride haha
xo
Someone sure knows how to party! I’m cracking up over here!
I’m a proponent of wedding registries. If you don’t ask for what you want, you’ll be stuck with a lot of wedding-themed picture frames.
The worm. Love it.
wishpot sounds like a great idea!!! I love the picture of you dooing the worm! My friend got married last May & she did the worm in her wedding dress too, it was awesome! unfortunately, her new mother in law was not too happy, she kept saying get up, get up, but we all thought it was so cool, because obviously we are all having fun, & it’s her wedding so she could do the worm if she wanted too 🙂
Congrats! Going to ck our your guest post right now….
Those photos ROCK
I was sorry that I had to miss it bc I was out of town. I know it was a huge success:)
