“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.” Jim Rohn
Are you happy? This is both an easy and difficult question for me. I am happy because I am blessed with many things – good health, a wonderful family, a new home in a few months, a few great recipes up my sleeve, and the ability to travel to many wonderful locations in the world. So yes, I couldn’t be happier withy life in some ways. But, I’ve also been bothered by a few other aspects in recent years.
I have been at a few exciting startups and companies in recent years. But there have been ups and downs there as there are with any startups. It has made me reevaluate what makes me happy at work? What kind of work do I want to do? What really drives me professionally? I’ve been struggling to answer those questions. I keep on thinking about what I could have done different in the past and now. But I met someone recently that told me “What is the point in worrying about the past? What value does that bring? What could make you happier now?” Previously, I don’t think I’ve bothered answering that question. Now, it makes sense and I am concentrating on what I can do to be happy now and in the future.
I’m designing my happiness for the present. I’ll venture forth and focus on tasks that make me and my family happy now and in the future. It won’t be easy, but as a result, I’ll be happier in the long run.
Have a lovely week!
Makes me smile. great project!
“I’m designing my happiness for the present.” Love that so much!
Thank you, I’m certainly trying and love my new motto to design happiness for the present!
I feel more blessed. It just takes looking at others that may not be as fortunate, to understand how blessed you truly are. There are so many without. I sat in on a presentation at work, and the speaker mentioned that you needed certain things in your life. If one thing was missing, things were not complete. For me, the missing link has always been love (a guy). Unfortunately nothing has ever worked out long term. I think that will make me happy & complete. Everything else is in order. But I’m blessed & Thank God for everything else. I pray that God shows you the answer for your professional life. Something is ahead for you 🙂 Something Great!
