Some outfits become memorable because they symbolize a special event in a very public figure’s life.
I can still remember Michelle Obama’s first inauguration ball gown (and Jason Wu’s subsequent rise to fame). I can also recall Kate Middleton’s dress for her engagement photos when she revealed to the world that she would in fact be landing her real life prince. It was a memorable dress as well for the public because it showed us the simple, refined style of the new Duchess of Cambridge. The original dress designed by Issa sold out in a flash, but will be available again as one of the pieces in the Luxing it on the Cheap (LOTC) Issa collection for Banana Republic.
The lookbook shows simple dresses in a variety of v-neck,wrap style. The prints lack vibrancy for me, but I love the sheen and versatility of the solid pieces.
The collection launches in 700 Banana Republic stores worldwide on August 8th.

Do any of the styles catch your eye?
Such gorgeous dresses, I love the waist detail. Perfect to wear any time of the day too. Beautiful. Have a sweet day doll x
love the maroon tights, think i’ll add that this fall! i like how kate is such a classy style icon, even though she’s not quite my style, i loved reading about how she shamelessly flaunted her post baby bump and made it normal…very cool
Gorgeous selection of dresses!
Wow…such scores. I haven’t shopped Banana in ages!
I love that first dark blue dress! So gorgeous! I remember all of those events too! HAHAHA They are definitely memorable.
I really like the brown, striped dress. Nice that they are making an affordable line. I’m sure fans of this dress will rush to it.

these dresses do have a nice silhouette, and it’s good to see some long sleeve choices, so we are slightly less cold this fall.
This is the start of an amazing collaboration, wish we could shop it too, those draped dresses are so elegant!
This might give m a reason to shop at BR again. I’m with you on the solid pieces. They look like they could be dressed up or down easily.

everyone is going to love these, me included!
I love this. It reminds me of a book I own called Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Great post
Oooh thanks for the heads up on this – I’m loving the indigo dress up top and the emerald green one especially, gorgeous!
a very flattering cut for almost all body types! i prefer the longer length, like the one kate is wearing. i don’t look great in short dresses, which is a drag as so many cute dresses are short! oh well!
and thank you for the birthday wishes! 🙂
This is great news! I see a lot of adorable silhouettes and prints. Thanks for sharing!
xoxo
