What kind of clothing did you wear as a kid?
I had an older brother so I definitely got hand me downs of He-Man t-shirts and basic henley tees. It was a luxury for us to shop at Gap when we were little. Our clothing came from everywhere from local department stores to discount stores. My grandfather also liked to pick up a few things for us at the thrift store. I didn’t care much because I was an easygoing kid in terms of fashion (except if it was my birthday, then I was very particular about my dresses!) Designer labels didn’t really matter to me and I hope they won’t matter for any child. But when I saw that Kate Spade has created a Kids collection (I’m still sad I didn’t get what I wanted from the Gap collaboration), I couldn’t resist taking a peek. While I don’t exclusively dress my own little one in designer duds, I think it is nice to get her a few nice pieces. There certainly is a difference with quality and prints between brands and I also love to give a nice dress or romper as a gift.
Tip: The kids section is also a fab section to shop for yourself for accessories or clothing if you are petite!
So if you know of a little lady, here are a few fun pieces that she might love:
1. Girls’ Vivien Dress, Kate Spade, $88
2. Kids’ Large Glitter Bow Headband, Kate Spade, $18
3. Girls’ Peplum Top, Kate Spade, $58
4. Girls’ Dorothy Jacket, Kate Spade, $178
5. Kids’ Patent Leather Scout Cross Body, Kate Spade, $148
6. Girls’ Little Lady Tee, Kate Spade, $38
I think my mom liked to dress me more girly but I had some definite tomboy tendencies which came out when I was allowed to choose my own clothes. That Little Lady tee would be so fun for your Little Lady 🙂

This is such a darling collection!
I definitely feel like kids these days dress way differently than the majority of us did. I’m pretty sure designer labels were reserved exclusively for my mum and not me lol. I actually preferred the tomboy look as a kid, I always wanted a basketball jersey after noticing a friend of mine sporting it. Her mum had purchased it from the boys section hence why mine wouldn’t.

Kids these days definitely dress differently and are becoming mini-mes. I used to think it was weird and definitely prefer to dress my daughter in baby prints and cuts. But I also bought her skinny jeans and love them on her. But of course if she ends up being a tomboy, at least I put a few dresses on her as a baby!
I love kate spade’s cuteness and whimsy. it only makes sense that they have a kids line. that bow coat is so cute!
Chic on the Cheap
We didn’t have these kind of selections when I was little. HAHAHA I think it’ so wonderful! A nice mix of designer and non is great. They’re making things so cute for kids.
