Kanzashi or Japanese hair combs

I have a thing for hats and hairpieces (Philip Treacy and Jennifer Behr forever!) The Japanese artist Sakae creates exquisite kanzashi or Japanese hair combs using resin and wire. These beautiful pieces are worn for special events – I can easily imagine this being loving worn for a wedding. Colorful hydrangeas to gingko leaves are created in such dynamic colors! Sakae sells her unique pieces via auction. This makes me wish I could read Japanese!

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…taking the little lady to a Holi party. I’ve also witnessed the aftermath, but never taken part in a Holi party. The festival of colors welcomes spring and encourages friends to gather together. They will usually throw brightly colored chalk at each other. The aftermath is bright and fun. I’m only stopping by with the baby but will try to post a few pictures on my Instagram (let’s connect there!)

Oh wow, I’ve never seen any hair pieces as beautiful as this before. Shame they aren’t easy to buy, I have a wedding coming up and I’m not a hat person, I agree these would be lovely to wear instead! 🙂

Hope you had a lovely weekend and you enjoyed the party! We took the boys to an indoor play centre to get out of the humid weather and they loved it 🙂
