“Begin, be bold, and venture to be wise.”

I’ve been thinking more and more about the concept of being bold. This editorial of Joan Smalls for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia March 2018 is certainly bold. I’m loving the luminous makeup and strong outfits. It is certainly a wonderful example of being bold and beautiful. But where does this boldness come from? Some people are just born fearless. For many people, they have to learn to be bold. I look at my little lady who goes between being shy and being bold. She plays wonderfully with familiar friends and with individuals. She’ll even occasionally stand up for herself. However, she sometimes displays a fierce unwillingness to engage when there is a crowd, even if she knows most people in that group. I suppose it is some type of social anxiety? I would love for her to be more bold and know that she is still young. She still has confidence and curiosity and I hope this combines with her assertiveness as well someday; in this day and age, I want to ensure that she knows how and when to speak out. May we all learn to be a little bit more bold!
Have a lovely week!
These are lovely. I don’t know what Joan is doing with her leg in that one photo on the rock, but it’s quite acrobatic for sure.
Being bold in these times can be so important. May we all learn to be a little bit more bold indeed!
Joan looks fierce in these photos! Wow! So stunning! And I love her outfits.
I was just like your daughter at that age and all through elementary school. My mom put me in different activities (dance, Piano etc) to bring me out. I was still shy though. LOL Honestly it wasn’t until College that I started speaking my mind. HaHaHa

Woah these photographs are gorgeous, it’s such a bold and important look. It’s good that you’re trying to bring your daughter out of her shell a bit, or at least noticing it, as we could all have benefitted from being bolder younger.

Thank you! She’s young and it will take some time, but I hope that she can be more assertive and confident soon!
Being bold is a great lesson to teach our little ladies. They are the new and improved version of us!
