I’ll admit it, I do not have a green thumb. I’m not sure if I have a black thumb, but I’m just not the best person at taking care of plants. When boys would send me flowers, my father was frequently the one would would display them nicely in a vase and take care of them!
While I can’t maintain plants very well, I do love seeing them and having green respites from my normal life in the concrete jungle. I was intrigued by Gardens by the Bay in Singapore because it aims to be a modern day model for sustainable development and conservation.
When you first enter the Gardens, you are instantly greeted by the Supertrees in the Supertree Grove (12 here and 6 surrounding the two domes). These 16 story trees marry concrete, steel, and living plants. Over 160,000 plants blanket these 18 trees and 11 of them also contain photovoltaic cells to gather solar energy. Functional and funky! It also provides a very interesting contrast to the Marina Bay Sands hotel and casino just next door.
I went during the opening weekend (sucker for painful crowds I guess?), and was awed by bionic structures and fun touches throughout the Gardens.
Admission to the Gardens itself is free and prices will vary for the individual domes. I’ll review the domes after I’ve gone to both of them. Here is a peek of the entrance hall of the flower dome.
Tip: Sunset is a beautiful time to stroll through the Gardens.
oh my gosh, these gardens are amazing. i’m obsessed with the super trees.
The trees are surprisingly gorgeous and super cool!
Such an interesting place. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Singapore. Must be a lovely city to visit.
What an amazing place, love it!! I have a semi-green thumb, haha. I love plants, although getting into my garden and weeding is not always my thing, haha 🙂 Am glad you enjoyed doll xx

These gardens have a great modern meets organic type of feel. I’m pretty sure I have a black thumb but thankfully hubby’s green thumb makes up for it 🙂
You could always swing to HK Disney. I loved those ears 🙂
