Imperfections are a part of life, and one should learn to love who you are. Ileana D’Cruz

Have you always been happy with yourself? Gigi Hadid for Vogue Arabia March 2019 and this quote reminded me about imperfections and how we handle them. I most definitely did not embrace my imperfections previously. As a child, I thought my nose was too wide and tried to put a clothespin on it to make it smaller (obviously that experiment didn’t last!) I was also quite self conscious about a few visible birthmarks and beauty marks. But try as I could, I couldn’t cover them anyway!

Over time, I became less bothered with my imperfections. I didn’t try to cover up areas I wasn’t as comfortable with anymore. I realized that everyone had their small imperfections, even models. But models exuded a confidence that diminished these small areas. When I worked in fashion, I saw this at work. I met so many glamorous people that were just so comfortable in their own skin. Certain aspects just didn’t matter – their height or figure or their facial features. I’ve learned to own it all too. I am the sum of my parts – great and small. It’s taken me a few decades, but I am also finally starting to love who I am as well, imperfections and all.

Have a lovely week!

She looks so different in these images — love them! I used to be so shy growing up because I didn’t look like my sisters, they are so gorgeous naturally. I was born with gingerish hair and freckles and a birthmark and never felt as beautiful. But as I got older I realised those imperfections are what make me so unique, now others celebrate them. WIsh you a lovely week dear. x/M
