Fun Finds {Art}: Canstruction Art and Alexander McQueen in NYC

December 6, 2011
Art is no longer restricted to paint, clay, and stone.  An exhibit of “canstruction”uses canned food to create art (who said that you can’t play with your food?)  These pieces include a few odes to the great Alexander McQueen and the armadillo shoes that will always be one if his signature pieces.  I also love the homage to the Brooklyn? Bridge and other whimsical creations.  This exhibit is taking place at the World Financial Center in NYC (I used to work there!) so stop by and relax in the Winter Garden if you’re ever in the area.

I went to check this out a few weeks ago. It was pretty fantastic to see these amazing pieces made from cans and they were also taking donations of canned food. Despite myself I even liked the Angry Birds one. This exhibit actually closed on 11/21.

Now that I’ve heard about how there is BPA in canned foods, this seems like a good way to use them….

HA! This is awesome! So funny – when I saw the AMcQ shoe, my first thought was “I want to see this in cans of SPAM” I don’t know why. I am happy to see though, that they used it for the B Bridge. So amazing!
