One afternoon in Milan, my husband and I wanted to go outlet shopping so we headed to Switzerland.
We were back in Milan that night for dinner.
I love how the proximity of certain European countries makes it so easy for one to quickly visit neighboring countries. We knew we wanted to do a little shopping (when in Italy, shop at Italian designer stores right?) and my husband was looking for some quality shoes for his new job. We were told by a friend to visit Foxtown Outlets which were only about a one hour drive from Milan. This outlet mostly contained quite a few higher end shops, but we were ready to splurge!
We hadn’t rented a car in Milan, but did find a shuttle via Zani Viaggi travel agency (the pickup/dropoff point was outside the travel agency which was in central Milan by the Cairoli train station). The €20 bus ticket provided us roundtrip travel and the driver even took us to Swiss customs so we could get the tax back paperwork submitted to customs before heading back to Italy. We were allowed 4 hours to shop which was just fine with us.
The outlet itself is a manageable size and its three stories are spread across two or three different sections.
We definitely saw the designer stores from Dolce & Gabbana to Valentino (drool for Valentino lace and trench coats…maybe some day). Excuse the camera phone photos, but I did what I could to sneakily take photos.
Not everything was high end and we liked looking at the new Swatch designs too.
My husband found quite a few things at Salvatore Ferragamo (he loves the workmanship and styles). The men’s fashion discounts were excellent and he got his shoes for 60% off and his ties for 40% off. I wasn’t looking, but tried on these bright teal peep toe shoes when I saw them on the rack. The color kept drawing me in as well as the lower height (I love to look at platforms, but can’t wear very high shoes).
They were the last pair in the store and that Spend ‘n Chomp husband of mine insisted that we get the shoes. I have never lusted after Ferragamo shoes, but if a brand is known for having quality workmanship, I will take a close look at the products. It was also sweet that my husband wanted to commemorate our trip and our new beginnings. Women’s shoes were discounted only about 40% (retailers always know women will buy more shoes and don’t have to discount as much right), but the price was still better than it would be in the US. I love my new Ribes shoes (you can also a gorgeous red pair on sale here!) I got mine for less than $300 which I thought was pretty fabulous.

Coveteur-inspired shot!
I totally think I’m going to wear this combination this weekend. Lower heels means I can still wear these now and in 10 years!
I am loving those Ferragamo’s! 🙂
Your new shoes are absolutely gorgeous! I love the color and that they’re peep toe. You have the best husband! How thoughtful of him. Glad he found everything he needed too. I wasn’t aware of the close proximity of the two places. That is so awesome! Switzerland has gorgeous things.
Thank you dear! He really is quite sweet. You should definitely visit some time! Switzerland has beautiful scenery and Milan has great food!
OMG – yes to the bow shoes!
Lovely. Funny you should put it that way – I don’t guess I really go out looking or Ferragamo shoes but I always seem to find some that I want when I’m in the store. Saw these little numbers http://www.polyvore.com/salvatore_ferragamo_isaka_lace_bow/thing?id=72254869 at the Ferragamo in Manila the other day and now I think I may need to go back and give them a forever home.
Lindsey, I’m the same way and don’t go out of my way looking for Ferragamo shoes but they do catch my eye when I see them. Those floral lace bow shoes are divine! I’m sure you would give them a great home 😉
Ohhh those are so pretty! Sounds like a fun shopping excursion, and when your husband is telling you to buy shoes, you’d best do as he says!
It is definitely a fun and easy trip! My husband actually likes outlet shopping more than I do because he finds so many great things! I guess he wanted me to join in the fun 😉
Oh my goodness those shoes! Swoon!
This place sounds like a shopaholics dream! Those dresses are splendid. Love the gorgeous turquoise hue of your sandals.
Man, I couldn’t even get to Dallas and back in a day!
Adorable shoes, they are stunning. I love the colour too :)) You did well :)) xx
Those watches are adorable <3
