Market food is oh so Chic ‘n Cheap. Seriously this is why they hire taco trucks for weddings now. Tasty and well-priced.
We ventured out to East London yesterday to go to Broadway Market. I went there with the express purpose of eating banh mi from Banh mi 11. Banh mi (vietnamese sandwiches composed of pork, pate, cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon radish) is one of my favorite foods. Ever. I’ve made Mr. Chic ‘n Cheap come with me to 3 different restaurants in NYC within an hour so we could try 3 different types of banh mi and compare.
After all who doesn’t love finding the best of a food they love?
So we were off to find some great food in London. Behold.
Crackling fragrant pork, it was delicious.
]I am such a sucker. We bought the truffle olive oil. Pricey and worth every penny. Best dish at NYC reception – shaved grilled portabellos with truffle oil. Beyond words. Cook it.Why are bratwurst so white…yet so delicious
Banh mi with pork and pate – what we came for! Extremely good bread – crackling and crisp with fresh ingredients and the cool bite of the pickled carrot and daikon radish. Yes I’ll go back again for this!
Thali with dal and aloo – not oily and homey tasting in a good way.
There were also freshly baked pastries and fresh crepes. We couldn’t actually eat this but I appreciated the option.
yum, what delicious pics!
I’m so hungry!!! Love banh mi.
