Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!
Wisteria tunnels in Japan
I’ll admit, I didn’t even know what wisteria flowers looked like until recently. But after I saw a few pictures of the wisteria tunnels in Japan, I knew it would be one of my bucket list destinations. Wisteria or Fuji as it is known in Japan is a wooden vine with delicate flowers ranging from purple to white and pink. There are a few wisteria sites throughout Japan, but I’d love to go to the wisteria tunnels in Kawachi Fuji-en. These private gardens have two striking wisteria tunnels, trellises full of wisteria and more than twenty two different kinds of this flowering vine. I’m enamored with the idea of walking through a tunnel of flowers. This particular garden is in Western Japan and is not particularly close to other tourist destinations. I’d take some time in the town and think the wisteria tunnels would be worth it! In the meantime, I’ll look at these photos and picture myself there some day.
Otherwise, this weekend I am…
…baking a few things in anticipation of my little one’s birthday. I’d like to make bundt cake so will try out this gluten free version. I’m also going to try to make cake pops for the first time! I made a trial version from this recipe and have high hopes. I’ll have to make more cake, but think it will be worth it! Of course that’s in addition to the birthday cake and rice krispies treats. Hmm, so much for the simple birthday party menu thing lol. Things we do for our loved ones…
What are you up to this weekend?
Have a lovely weekend!
I’ remember being absolutely stunned when I first saw photos of these wisteria tunnels on Pinterest a few years ago. They must be super gorgeous in person!
You’re such a great mom, always making treats for your little ones 🙂
I don’t have any specific recipe for fried rice because i’ve been making it for so long. Using rice which has been refrigerator overnight is key to keep the grains separated and fluffy. We don’t eat white rice in our house anymore so I make mine with brown or forbidden rice.
What a beautiful garden!
Oh wow that looks incredible! What a beautiful place to be when the flowers bloom! 🙂
Good luck with the baking – especially the cake pops! i;d love to give them a try but I worry they would be too complicateD!
Happy Easter! I hope you are having a lovely Easter weekend 🙂 We are really enjoying the long weekend, it was nice enough to go to the beach earlier.
Away From The Blue Blog
This is really incredible. I would love to see it in-person. I use wisteria quite a lot for wedding shoots. I hope you haD a great easter weekend.
I am the opposite. I love wisteria trees. Always have. What I didn’t know was that they flower. And I learned that from hearing about those flower tunnels in Japan! hahaha funny that right?!
