Rainbow Village
How would you feel if you were the last person in your community (one that housed 1,200 households)? I imagine it must have been very lonely for Huang Yung-Fu when all his neighbors accepted real estate developer payments to move to new area. But this creative elderly veteran didn’t mope. He brightened his day by painting. First he painted a bird inside his own home. Then he proceeded to paint outside onto his neighbors homes and walls. Local university students discovered the village and managed to convince authorities to preserve the colorful village. Rainbow Village was born and draws 1 million visitors a year (I must visit next time!)
Otherwise, this weekend I am…
…enjoying time with my family. Everyone has been sick or away or something the last few weeks. It will be nice to spend some time at home, maybe go swimming, and hopefully go to a date night as well. Sometimes the best weekends are those quiet ones right?

It’s nice to know that he was able to convince them to preserve the village, not often does that happen, esp. when gentrification may be on the agenda. I hope that you have a lovely time with your family. I have to work this weekend so fairly quiet but it’s at least going to be some fun.

What a story. It’s amazing how he transformed an entire village with his bright and colorful artwork! I bet it must be even more vibrant and incredible iRL. Yes you must visit!
