What are your favorite shoes for the summer?
For most of us, the list of shoes includes flip flops. I’m still on the search for some fabulous wedges as well since both pairs of my favorite wedges have gone to shoe heaven (sniff, sniff). Enter Philippe Starck for Ipanema flip flops.
Seriously, is the celebrated architect and designer behind famous home designs like the ghost chair creating flip flops as well? Yes, he is. Of course the designs are a little bit different, but definitely minimal and cool.
All of the designs are named “Thing [letter]”. I have a certain fondness for Thing U because of the fun circular toe embellishment and simple horizontal enclosure.
All of the lines on his collection for Ipanema have thin tubes constructing the simple design, but what I really like are the color combinations. I may have to buy 1 or 2 pairs of the flip flops with smoke details.
Thing M is the traditional flip flop style.
Thing N is also chic and simple.
Thing G is a bit more funky, like a gladiator flip flop!
Cool!

love the design on these! i’d def like to check them out.
These are so fun and modern looking!
I am so digging Thing N – I want!
xx
I always have a number of pairs of flip flops though they rarely make the transition to footwear I wear outside the home or beach. I would be lovely to have a more elegant option.
Chic on the Cheap
Interesting flip flops!

What a fun twist on flip flops!
Don’t tell anyone but I actually hate flip flops. I don’t own any and I never wear them, lol. I do think Thing N is kinda cute, though. I’m really feeling mules (heeled and flat) for summer!
Actually I don’t wear flip flops anymore! It was really these designs that made me reconsider it. I usually don’t like how thin they are and don’t have traction! They are great for summer though!
I love the sleekness of them. So cute.
