Fashion and Function: ONA Camera bags and accessories

February 15, 2012
Are you a photography geek like me (or wannabe geek!)?  I didn’t realize how beautifully moments could be captured until I got my DSLR recently.  My new camera has certainly traveled the world and help me tell a story of my trips.  But it has been a journey to find stylish, yet practical camera bags to store my delicate (and pricey!) camera and accessories.

I recently discovered ONA bags and was instantly intrigued.  “Ona” means to feel, believe or experience with the eyes and is at the core of the effects produced by photography and style.  The styles range from messenger bags to backpacks to inserts and I really like the clean, classic styles.   The bags are well-made and contracted of durable materials like vegetable-tanned leather for the Brooklyn bag and wax infused canvas for the Union Street bag; they not only have room not only for a camera and a few accessories,  but have pockets for  your other necessities like a wallet or iPad (a must if you want to transfer pictures from an Eye-fi card!)  I really like the beautiful combination of form and function.

Brooklyn, $309
Roma, $59
Do you think nice camera bags are worth the splurge?

Totally worth the splurge! These are amazing, so functional yet gorgeous. It took me forever to find my current vintage camera bag, but even that one doesn’t have fabulous pockets like this one. You’ve certainly got me tempted!

Gorgeous bags!! I turned one of my own bags into a camera bag, so it would look much nicer than the ones offered. I see they’ve improved them now!! Very chic and much easier to get in and out of!! xx

I like how streamlined these bags look. I’ve been on the hunt for a bag to haul my DSLR around in for ages now but I’m just too picky.

I am starting to thing they are worth the splurge and I absolutely love their bags! Such a great worn in look.

Great bags! A good camera bag is definitely well-worth the cost to protect your equipment. We also have a DSLR and love it!

Oh my gosh, those are awesome looking!

  • Teresaurus February 15, 2012 at 16:27

I got a Kelly Moore camera bag for a gift and I loved it but I notice I still go for my much cheaper, functional and more protected diaper bag I purchased at a discount store. I love the idea of leather but to me, it just seems like another couple unnecessary pounds to carry.

they are fantastic… i’d love the first one!

  • Kim (A Very Sweet Blog) February 15, 2012 at 19:27

Most definitely! You invest a lot in a great camera and need a proper bag to carry it in. The bag they usually give you is far from chic. These are beautiful.

I think so! Maybe not a $300 splurge, but I think they’re worth it for good quality.

  • THE ALTERNATIVE WIFE February 15, 2012 at 19:47

I’ve been eyeing one for months now!!! They’re so fabulous. Utilitarian and incredibly chic. Hope you get one 🙂 xoxo

I’m saving up for a camera. These cell phone pics just aren’t cutting it on my blog.

i think if you are really big into photography then yes. just like i would splurge on a very nice makeup carrier. gorgeous bags. i think i’d even use it as a purse or a carry on bag for the airport.

  • Kavery February 15, 2012 at 20:51

For now I’m splurging on bags for moi but will think about stylish camera bags soon!

  • Alena: Oh, Its Just Perfect! February 15, 2012 at 21:08

These camera bags are gorgeous. I have a Jo Totes bag that I love, but I wish it were a cross-body one–it would make carrying it so much easier!

  • Sam February 15, 2012 at 22:29

These bags are really great, they look chic and they serve an important purpose. I would definitely get one if I had a larger camera to fit in it.

  • Kristin February 16, 2012 at 00:42

I’m shopping for one myself right now…I totally think they’re worth it!

  • Karina February 16, 2012 at 03:21

I’ve seen the ONA bags and think that they are so beautiful! I say if you have the money to splurge1 Yes, buy it! Ha! I would so buy one if I could 🙂

    xoxo

so funny about this post! too bad i didn’t see it sooner otherwise i could have included ona. Think the canvas one is nice and worth the $59 pricetag. Spending $300+ on a camera bag? I rather get an awesome looking regular bag.
