While a picture can say a thousand words, a single word can say exactly what it means.
I first came across this image of a simple living room with this wall canvas of places and was instantly inspired to pin it (I’m Chic ‘n Cheap Living). I wish I remembered the source of this photo, but am still obsessed with creating my own word canvas (a DIY perhaps!) I am also reminded that a single word or phrase can have such impact, especially if one chooses to surround herself with especially significant words.
Since I’ve been moving around the world ever since 2008 and have moved around with the husband since 2009, I am thinking of surrounding ourselves with words that remind us of our old homes. I love the idea of displaying words of loves in a child’s room or even a fun expected phrase to bring a smile to the reader’s face (I once saw a sign that said “Make Tacos, not War” above a couch).
What words or phrases are significant to you?
omg, i’m all about “make tacos, not war”!! and i really like a simple “family” “love” or “joy” as word decor.
I love the ‘laugh’ one above the bed, that is beautiful. The colours and decor is also wonderful…I would have that one!! I think its a great idea, you can pass by it and get a little reminder through the day to smile or laugh and be happy when things may be a little down. Wonderful. Hope you have a super day doll xx
Hi dear, I love the first line of this post, so true! I like both – a single bold word and a pretty phrase. I have seen these wall art tattoo phrases and poems that you can purchase online, is that something you would try out? I loved the laugh one most, so sweet and the font and style fits in beautifully with the room.
i think a decoration using ‘one life’ would be really cool!
love the ‘laugh’ and the pillows
I have a couple of those decorative words as decor in my home. What I really love, though, are the “HOME” pillows. I need those.
Oh I love decorating my home with words!! In my entrance there’s a print saying: “I’m so glad you’re here”. I’m working on getting other prints with meaningful phrases from yoga gurus, or simply from wise anonymous. Kisses
The “Laugh” one is great 😀
ommmgosh the “HOME” scrabble pillows make me giddy with excitement.. is that nerdy?? HAHAH.
i would say in terms of comfort brian atwoods are extremely comfortable.. on par with how comfortable prada shoes are.. i think in terms of adorable-ness and cuteness favorite.. miu miu wins handsdown.. however cuteness factor doesn’t always factor in in terms of wearability.. some of my miu miu’s are really comfortable and some aren’t.. whereas BA and prada i’ve found are across the board comfortable. oh and i have skinny ankles too and BA has this tiny elastic grip in the back of his shoes to keep the back of the shoe from slipping off which is another reason why i love his shoes so much.. you can also take your miu miu’s to a cobbler and have the elastic put in and it will hug the back of your heel like no other! i have done that with a couple of my shoes 🙂
Such great inspirations,
great taste you have!

It’s so funny, I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately–my favorite quotes, what is short and sweet yet says it all…I think that your idea is great, especially since you’ve been moving a lot to have a reminder of the glue that holds it all together 🙂
